On November 2nd Acton and CrossTown Connect soft-launched our newest public transportation service, Cross-Acton Transit (the CAT), and we're happy to say that so far it has been a success with ridership that has exeeded our expectations! The CAT is the first fixed-route bus service in acton and we're really excited to bring it to you. Now you can get around town easier without a car! The CAT's runs on an hourly loop that connects dense residential areas with business centers and the South Acton Commuter Rail Station. This allows Acton residents, commuters and visitors alike to take advantage of public transportation in Acton. If you haven't tried it yet, we urge you to hop aboard!
Cross-Acton Transit runs houly from 8:00AM-6:00PM Monday-Friday and costs $1.00 per trip. A schedule of stops and times can be found here and a live shuttle tracker can be found here. Download the Ride Systems app. to have the real-time shuttle location at your fingertips with your smartphone!
And on January 29th we urge you to please come and join us as we host the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the CAT. The ceremony will be held at Acton Town Hall in Room 204 and it will begin at 10:30AM. Light refreshments will be served and speakers will include Senator Jamie Eldridge, Representatives Cory Atkins and Jennifer Benson, Lowell Regional Transit Authority Administrator James Scanlan and Acton Board of Selectmen Vice-Chair Peter Berry. The bus will also make an appearance as it makes its 10:50AM stop at Town Hall. All are welcome to celebrate this momentous acheivement in mobility, access, and equity in the Town of Acton!
